The World of Barbarus
The world of Barbarus is an incredibly diverse place, full of unique and fascinating habitats and ecosystems teeming with life. Daeazeme, the main continent of the world, encapsulates this perfectly. Those who call Daeazeme their home will often find themselves at odds with the natural world, whilst also utilizing it’s great bounties of resources, food, magical reagents and more.

Below are some of the key regions of the continent of Daeazeme.
Amitor
Amitor is a wild, untamed land. Almost every habitat can be found within its borders, from deserts to mountains, savannah to icy peaks. Its flora and fauna are equally varied, with creatures and plants of all kinds roaming its landscapes. Many of these creatures grow to large sizes, and It is not uncommon for beasts many times the size of a person to be commonly found. Resources are plentiful in Amitor, and the region has been the centre of many ancient civilisations and nations who have used its natural wealth to great effect.
The Kalsean Desert
The Kalsean Desert is an expansive, scorching desert encompassing the entire west coast of Daeazeme. A sea of endless yellow dunes, going out into the sands unprepared is a death sentence, even for the most seasoned traveller. The little life that can be found in this harsh land congregates around the coastlines, rivers and lakes of the desert, competing for food and water. To the far north of the region is a maze of sinkholes and tar pits, wreathed in toxic chemicals and infested with parasitic creatures. To the south, forgotten magical facilities lie half-buried in the sands, releasing strange creatures and warping the land around them.
Demorena
The jungles of Demorena are a mystery, even to its inhabitants. The dense canopy of the giant trees that grow in the rainforest stop most light reaching the floor, and the ground is covered with a thick layer of leaves and vines. The area is often battered by powerful storms from the east, with the heavy rainfall feeding the numerous rivers that run through the undergrowth. The depths of Demorena are almost entirely unmapped, with any exploration through the jungle encountering difficulties due to strange toxic plants and unknown creatures. Even on the outer edges of the jungle, new species are always being discovered, with many keen to uncover the secrets deeper within.
Ordivis
An arid landscape of red rock with red and black sand, at first glance Ordivis seems like a difficult land to call home. The rocky landscape is dotted with geological features; canyons and valleys carve their way through the earth, whilst large mesas and plateaus stretch into the sky. The south of Ordivis is dominated by Mount Urantur, an immense supervolcano that releases huge quantities of soot and ash into the air, whilst to the east is a large desert, jokingly referred to as the only flat piece of land in the entire region. Within these canyons and crevices, however, lies great fertility, with plantlife, and often water, found in abundance.
The Eruptus Archipelago
The Eruptus Archipelago is a vast inland sea containing hundreds of tropical islands. These islands vary greatly in size, and whilst some are inhabited, others remain untouched by humans. Eruptus is known for its large number of Great Beasts, which reside on the islands. Some of these Great Beasts remain trapped, unable to cross the sea. There are, however, many who can and do cross to other islands, often having a severe impact on the habitat and ecosystems of wherever they find themselves. These changes can be extreme, with a jungle island becoming a desert, or vice versa, in a matter of months.
Kuldberg
Towering above the rest of the continent, Kuldberg sits on a massive shelf of rock and ice. Atop this shelf is a frozen landscape of icy plains and jagged mountain ranges. The plains of central Kuldberg are unable to sustain life for long, and vegetation is a rare sight amongst the snow. Lining these plains are the mountains and glaciers that make up the edges of Kuldberg, and although the nomadic people of the plains shun these claustrophobic passes, other less wary groups have established themselves amongst the dangerous yet plentiful peaks. Nestled below the wind-swept surface lies a massive network of tunnels and caverns, stretching throughout the entirety of Kuldberg.
