Our Settings

The Phoenix system is designed to be used in any setting to tell your stories. That being said, we have designed three settings that can be used to play and make your adventures in, as well as play Phoenix published adventures in. Covering a broad range of ideas, from fantasy to sci-fi, to post-apocalyptic, we are sure you'll love exploring these unique and rich worlds in your adventures.

Information on our three settings can be found below. We also have Setting Guides coming soon for each setting on the store, which go into further detail about the worlds and their history, recommended playable races, enemies, items, abilities and more!

The City

A fantasy world where Great Beasts of immense power roam the wilds and barbarian clans and mighty civilisations war with each other over resources and ancient magical relics, as hidden societies strive to protect the world from malevolent forces. This setting is made for fantasy adventures.

A sci-fi setting in which numerous alien factions explore the galaxies, utilising cutting edge technologies and mysterious space-time rifts as they battle to  fill the power vacuum left in the aftermath of the millennia-spanning Supreme War. This setting is made for sci-fi adventures.

The City is a far-future supernatural setting in which reimaginings of folkloric beings from every corner of the old earth coexist with humans, and technology and myth live side by side. Trapped in a perpetual night and comprised of hundreds of districts, wealth and influence in The City are constantly gained and lost, while the ever-present Regulatory Board watches over to ensure no one stays in power for too long. This setting is good for darker horror or mythology-focused adventures
