Werewolves
Alongside zombies, vampires and humans, werewolves are one of the most common species in The City. Half man, half wolf, Werewolves are physically strong, able to run great distances and use their claws and teeth as deadly weapons. Whilst many are feral and give in to their animalistic urges, the majority have complete control over themselves, working jobs, having families and living life much like anyone else would. Due to the City's constant night and their biology, these werewolves do not only transform during a full moon, and remain wolf-like permanently.

Much like many of the species of The City, there are multiple different strains of werewolves, each being different in their biology. The most common strains of werewolf include Lycan, who resemble large, two-legged wolves, Talbotan, whose snoutless face and ability to take human form allows them to disguise themselves better, and Kitsunian, who have multiple tails and resemble foxes more than wolves.
Humans
Alongside all these mythical species and beings reside humans. Although they may not have the longevity of vampires, the biological tools of werewolves or the raw strength of other species, humans still manage to find themselves well equipped and equally commonplace as these other species. Unlike most other species, there is no feral equivalent for humans like for vampires and werewolves, and they do not require any additional requirements to stay healthy, such as blood for vampires or water to live in for mer-people. Humans are also very flexible, able to master both magic and technology easier than other species, and this versatility is crucial in The City.

Of course, tools are not the only options available to humans. Many other methods of enhancement exist in the city, from Genetic mods changing their very biology, to advanced exosuits ranging in shape and power to suit their needs. Humans are also able, of course, to be transformed into many of the other species in the city through death, a bite or however those species spread and whilst many do not, many others may live a full life as a human before becoming something more.
Soucrian Vampire
Based on the Caribbean folklore of the Soucriant, Soucrian vampires are one of the more common strain of vampire found throughout the city. They share some similarities with other strains and all vampires generally, such as their longevity, their dislike of bright light and their reliance on blood for sustenance, however in some ways they differ greatly. Unlike some other vampires, who may transform into bats or black smoke, Soucrian Vampires transform into fireballs as they fly across the night sky of The City, and in areas where Soucrian vampires rule, these fireballs light up the sky.

In addition to this, Soucrian Vampires have a particular affinity for magic. Whereas other Vampires simply use blood as a food source, they also wield it in the form of blood magic, using it to cast deadly spells and rituals. For this reason, high quality and unique blood has become a pseudo-currency for groups of Soucrian Vampires, able to be used for the most powerful blood magic possible.
Gremlin
One of the more overlooked species in The City is the gremlin, a small creature with large eyes and ears, but a small stature. Whilst they are less common around the city, where there is one Gremlin there is likely to be hundreds, with them living in large groups where leaders are seemingly chosen at random. Their small stature and biology makes it very easy for them to go unseen and to sneak into places they shouldn't be, and Gremlins can often be a far greater threat than others think they are.
Despite their reputation for being not very intelligent, Gremlins have a natural affinity for technology, often tinkering and "borrowing" tech from others to experiment with, and to use to build new machines and tools. Gremlins are also very sociable creatures by nature, and will often find groups and areas that are heavily crowded to live and operate in and, despite their caution of other races, can be quite friendly if engaged.
Exosuits
Whilst not a species in any sense of the word, exosuits are no doubt a large part of the city, and can be used by almost any race to enhance themselves. Exosuits are powerful technological devices that are normally attached directly to the body of the recipient. They vary massively in both power, size and shape. Some may be nothing more than a thin layer applied over the skin on the user to boost charisma and senses, whilst others are large exoskeletons made of metal plating and rods, that allow the user to move cars with ease. This technology is surprisingly accessible, as with a lot of things in the city, and many choose to get one to give them an edge-up on others.

Most exosuits produced serve a specific purpose, and whilst you can get more generic suits, the vast majority are themed. The bulky Hellhound exosuit, for example, contains devices to launch fire and emit fumes to hinder and blind enemies. Others, such as the Faerie exosuit, allow for flight and increased mobility as well as short range teleportation, and no matter what you want from it, there is sure to be an exosuit to provide the powers needed.
Yaksha
The Yaksha are a relatively common species of nature spirit found all across The City. Squat and stocky with large round faces, Yaksha prefer to make their homes in the wild areas, inhabiting parks, woods, swamps and more. Where this is not possible, Yaksha will slowly and passively morph the land around them, causing vines to sprout, trees to grow and nature to take over wherever they are inhabiting. Whilst some find this annoying and judge Yaksha for it, others enjoy the greenery and nature they bring, a sight which can be often unseen in large areas of The City.

Yaksha are known to have a mischievous side, often pulling pranks and tricking those around them for fun. Many of these pranks are harmless fun and are taken as such, but some Yaksha are more malevolent, using their command over nature and trees to meet their own selfish desires. One thing all Yaksha share is a deep protective nature of plants and wilderness, and destroying or disrespecting the natural world is a sure-fire way to draw the ire of a Yaksha.
